About us
RSMS
RSMS is a professional association promoting the interests of doctors and medical staff, in the development of metabolic surgery, in supporting the improvement of medical quality for patients benefit (with special attention and interest for scientific and educational activities of metabolic surgery in Romania and for international collaboration in the field).
Mission
Our mission is to bring together the national scientific, surgical and medical communities, aiming to facilitate the communication and establishing national standards of care for the treatment obesity and its metabolic consequences.
Vision
Control the metabolic consequences of obesity, through interventional procedures with an efficient and durable effect.
President’s message
45 years ago, Romania marked on the world’s weight loss surgery map the first operations and we are grateful to our pioneers. A long and challenging history of bariatric surgery followed, but mostly limited to remarkable individual or single institution progress.
Nowadays, Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery (BMS) has achieved exceptional performance and its benefits are demonstrated world-wide.
BMS needs to be developed in Romania, too. That’s why Romanian Society for Metabolic Surgery (RSMS) is standing for. It is our main goal, as professional society, to unite the energy and efforts of physicians’ teams countrywide to work together for a better performance of BMS in Romania!
RSMS succeeded in 2021 to nationally represent IFSO in Romania and has great future projects! We will continue to organize scientific events, training activities, we will soon launch the Romanian Register for Bariatric Surgery and involve aligning our medical practice to the International guidelines.
I am honored to be the first president of RSMS, the voice for our colleagues and patients, in Romania and abroad.
I am inviting you all, to join RSMS and contribute to its great and challenging goals, to be better for our patients!
